Millions of families in the United States will be able to receive additional assistance this summer thanks to the Summer EBT 2025 program, an initiative that provides $120 per child to buy food during the school vacations, a period when many children lose access to free or reduced-price meals they receive during the school year.
The program is designed to combat child food insecurity during the summer and is implemented in coordination with agencies in different states. To date, more than 35 states have confirmed their participation. However, some states have opted not to join this year.
This plan seeks to help families with children in nutrition and food with the figure of $120 per child, and there are many who during the year depend on the meals their children receive in schools, however, when the summer vacation recess arrives these benefits are lost by having children at home.
Who is eligible for the Summer 2025 food stamps?
Beneficiaries are children who receive food assistance from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals. In many cases, no additional application is required, as benefits are automatically granted if the child is already enrolled in the programs.
