AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Registration is now open for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers “Take Kids Fishing Day” that takes place Saturday at J. Storm Thurmond Lake.
Anyone between the ages of 5-15 can participate if registered.
The first 150 youths registered will receive a free fishing rod and reel.
All participants must have a parent or guardian with them.
The parent or guardian can fish if they have a valid Georgia or South Carolina fishing license in their possession.

Kids 15 and younger do not need a fishing license.
The fishing area will be freshly stocked with catfish.
Check-in time is from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m., with fishing hours being from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Space is limited, so registration is recommended to secure a reserved spot.

Lunch will be provided to all registered participants.
Life jackets are highly recommended for children and weak swimmers who will be near the water.
Portable restrooms and drinking water will be available for everyone, but attendees should bring their own chair, fishing gear and sunscreen.
