LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – The Ruthe B. Cowl Rehabilitation Center is inviting parents of children with special needs to a summer camp.
Children aged five to eleven with disabilities are invited to attend free of charge.
The activities will take place at the Haynes Recreation Center, located at 2102 Clarks Crossing Dr., on July 11 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
According to Roxie Gutierrez, a certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, “It is going to be a lot of fun. We already have a bunch of activities; we’re gonna have crafting, we’re gonna have obstacle courses, we’re gonna have them put together snacks and it’s all themed around a camp aesthetic. It’s all outdoor-type activities, and for those kids who do not want to participate during the outdoor activities, we do have an alternative. We’ll be inside, doing some type of crafting or playing games. We’re going to have a camping bingo where we plan to raffle stuff off.“
This event is returning for its ninth year, thanks to funding and donations from the South Texas Development Council and other organizations.
