Rochester, N.Y. — Fidelis Care has awarded a $20,000 behavioral health grant to the University of Rochester’s Golisano Children’s Hospital’s Connecting for Kids program.
The grant is part of a larger $149,000 initiative aimed at improving behavioral health outcomes across New York State, particularly in vulnerable communities.
“As a health insurance company, we understand that there is a great need for behavioral health services, so we’re really proud to take a proactive role in this and contribute financially to support programs across New York state,” said Jennifer Lyons, director of sales and marketing for Fidelis Care. “This is one of nine behavioral grants that we’ve just distributed.”
The funding is intended to enhance the integration of behavioral health and primary care through innovative strategies, bridging care gaps for vulnerable populations by promoting comprehensive support.
“The services are limited. There are only so much of us to go around so really now is the time for our systems to come together and partner better to understand how to increase rapid referrals between systems to streamline our communication, to talk about how to work as a team is needed more than ever now,” said Allison Stiles, assistant professor of psychology, URMC.
The Connecting for Kids program focuses on enhancing interprofessional collaboration between critical systems of care to better address the physical health, behavioral health, and academic needs of children and teens.
The Fidelis Care grant will support the program’s Collaborative Dialogue initiative, which aims to foster effective collaboration across school teams, primary care practices, and parents or caregivers to support child and adolescent behavioral health needs.
