Boxes of meat on floor, food out of temperature found at Phoenix area eateries

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for June 18, 2025:

Bing Bistro – 15577 N Hayden Road, Scottsdale

3 violations:

• No certified food manager
• Employee not cleaning dishware properly
• Bok choy and fried rice out of temperature

Mercer and Little Pickle – 2525 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix

3 violations:

• Raw bacon stored above ready-to-eat foods
• Cheese and milk not kept at proper temperature
• Containers of broccolini and butter not date marked

Subway – 8248 W Deer Valley Rd, Peoria

4 violations:

• Deli meats not kept cold enough
• Food prep sink draining into mop sink
• Very dim light in walk-in fridge
• Drain pipes not connected properly

El Jefe Tacos – 2155 E University Drive, Tempe

4 violations:

• Raw beef stored above salsas
• Cooked beans not kept hot enough
• Rolled tacos and eggs not kept cold enough
• Cooked carne asada and carnitas not date marked properly

Filiberto’s Mexican Food – 3855 W Ray Rd, Chandler

4 violations:

• No soap at hand wash sink
• Pan of raw chicken stored above lettuce
• Beans not cooling properly
• Boxes of meat stored on floor in walk-in cooler
