To recognize the contributions of children to their families and communities, the Spokane City Council designated June 22 as Kids’ Day
SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane City Council has unanimously passed a resolution that designates June 22 as Kids’ Day in the city. City officials, working in partnership with the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department, have committed to making Kids’ Day an annual tradition at Riverfront Park.
Kids’ Day recognizes that the contributions of children to their families and communities are often overlooked or underappreciated. This also highlights the educators, childcare providers, and advocates whose work significantly impacts the lives of Spokane’s youngest residents.
“This is a perfect opportunity for families to take part in all the fun that Riverfront Park has to offer,” said Council Member Lili Navarrete, who championed the resolution. “I especially encourage those who normally couldn’t for financial reasons to take advantage of the free amenities for children. I’m proud to have brought this idea forward and want to give a giant thank you to the team at Riverfront Park, as well as our sponsors, for making it a reality. This truly wouldn’t be possible without their amazing work and dedication to the community.”
To mark the inaugural Kids’ Day on June 22, Riverfront Park will open several popular attractions: The Skyride, Skate Ribbon, and Looff Carrousel, that are all free of charge to children aged 12 and under.
