Jenna Bush Hager’s children need a little time to adapt to their mom’s new haircut.
“I walked in to show my children … I think they thought they were getting a puppy,” Jenna told her “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” co-host Leslie Bibb on June 17.
In a home video played on-air, Jenna unveiled her haircut, a trendy modern bob, to her children, Mila, 12, Poppy, 9, and Hal, 5.
“What are you doing?” Poppy asked in the footage, screeching in surprise.
“I don’t like it,” stated Mila.
“What?! Why?” Jenna replied in the video.
“Why would you do that?” wailed Poppy, speed-walking away.
Jenna reassured her co-host that the children’s reactions were more theatrical than serious. “It was sort of fake crying,” said Jenna. “That’s our love language.”
On June 16, Jenna got her haircut on live TV, after sharing in March that she coveted Bibb’s bob.
When “The White Lotus” star began co-hosting “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” on June 16, she brought hairstylist Chris McMillan to fulfill Jenna’s wishes. The celebrity stylist created Bibb’s viral bob, along with Jennifer Aniston’s famous “Friends” cut, known as “The Rachel.”
“People equate long hair with ‘princess,’” Bibb told Jenna on June 16, after watching the children’s reaction. “And here’s the thing, guys, fairy tales don’t exist. They are not real.”
The cut does have one big fan: Jenna’s husband Henry Hager.
“The best thing is, my husband, he was like, ‘Damn, that’s hot,’ which was sweet,” Jenna told Bibb, adding that Henry explained Poppy’s passionate response by saying, “‘She don’t know fashion. She’s 9.’”
