City Council passed resolution 2025-0044 declaring June 22, 2025, as Kids’ Day in Spokane. Kids’ Day recognizes that the contributions of children to their families and communities are often overlooked or underappreciated. Establishing a Kids’ Day in Spokane provides an occasion to recognize and celebrate the educators, childcare workers, advocates, and anyone who works with children, showing appreciation for the incredible and selfless work they do.
“This is a perfect opportunity for families to take part in all the fun that Riverfront Park has to offer,” said Council Member Lili Navarrete. “I especially encourage those who normally couldn’t for financial reasons to take advantage of the free amenities for children. I’m proud to have brought this idea forward and want to give a giant thank you to the team at Riverfront Park, as well as our sponsors, for making it a reality. This truly wouldn’t be possible without their amazing work and dedication to the community.”
On June 22, to celebrate Kids’ Day, Riverfront Park will offer free admission to The Skyride, Skate Ribbon, and Looff Carrousel for children aged 12 and under. Dasani Water, SDS Realty, Catholic Charities, and Avista Foundation provided contributions and sponsorships. In conjunction with Riverfront Park and the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, with Park Board approval, this will be an annual celebration to be held at Riverfront Park.
