(WPDE) — A program through the Lowcountry Food Bank will provide meals for children all summer long.
The Lowcountry Food Bank is participating in the Summer Break Cafe and partnering with No Kid Hungry for 2025.
Food will be given to children 18 years and younger with no charge. The program began on June 9 and will continue for eight weeks.

Service gaps and food accessibility vary everywhere, and the distribution sites will be chosen to serve children who may need meals the most.
These sites will include places like day camps, parks and recreation centers, public libraries and faith-based organizations.
“Summer meals are a lifeline for kids and families who rely on school meals throughout the school year,” aid Marissa Spady, No Kid Hungry South Carolina senior program manager. “We’re excited to support the programs that are making dependable nutrition accessible to families in all corners of the state, reaching many more kids with the food they need to stay healthy over the summer and start the next school year ready to learn.”
The food insecurity rate is at its highest level in more than 20 years, at more than 13% of the population in the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina that the Lowcountry Food Bank serves.
