Longtime Rochester shoe store for kids to close

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – A longtime family-owned children’s shoe store in Rochester is preparing to close its doors.

Schmitt’s Stride Rite has operated in the Med City for more than forty years.

Owner Terri Pickett reports a closing date will be set in the coming weeks.

She cited product availability as a main reason for the decision.

“This decision wasn’t made lightly,” wrote Pickett in a statement. “It was made with a lot of intention and appreciation for the decades of good memories and the relationships we formed. It’s the end of an era, but our family is so grateful for our customers both near and far who made Schmitt’s Stride Rite a success for over forty years.”
