88 Kids Removed from Iowa Church Camp After Reports of Abuse

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa – Authorities in Southeast Iowa say 88 children were put in protective custody after reports of child abuse and endangerment at a camp in Columbus Junction.

The kids were attending the Kingdom Ministry of Rehabilitation and Recreation and Shekinah Glory Camp at the time. Multiple agencies responded to the camp June 12th and 13th following the reports of abuse.

The children were returned to the care of their parents or placed in temporary foster care

The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Department of Health Human Services, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and Columbus Junction Police Department took part in bringing the kids to safety. The investigation is ongoing.

Wapello Methodist Church, Wapello Community School/Food Pantry, and local volunteers all assisted in the investigation.
