South Shore Food Fight brings flavor and fun to Hanover on June 21

Local chefs will face off in a culinary showdown in the South Shore Food Bank’s first “Food Fight” fundraiser, according to a community announcement.

The competition will be hosted by celebrity chef Stephen Coe, a five-time “Chopped” champion who has twice bested Bobby Flay, according to the announcement. Competitors will vie for a chance to challenge Coe in the final round.

Judges include Paul Wahlberg, owner of Wahlburgers and Alma Nove; Laurie Hepworth, publisher of Edible Southeastern Massachusetts; Jose Duarte, owner of Taranta in Boston; and Katelin Smith, of Plymouth Public Schools’ culinary arts program.

Competing for the title of Food Fight champion are the following restaurant chefs: Dane Lane, of The Tack Room; Doug Rodriguez, of Osteria Vivo; Ethan Wyatt, of Faces Brewing Co.; Joshua Todisco, of Rye Tavern; Daniel Burger, of The Langham; and Joshua Campbell, of Max Ultimate Food, according to the announcement.

Food truck chefs will represent Lobsta Love, Artisan Pig and Wicked Flavah.

South Shore Food Bank relishes role as host

Competitors will shop for many of their ingredients from the “Feed the Wey” food pantry bus.

“Food Fight represents much more than a friendly competition it will be a celebration of community, creativity and the power of food to bring people together,” Pamela Denholm, executive director of Rockland-based South Shore Food Bank, in a statement.

The Food Bank, established in 2021, acts as a hub for a network of food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters supported by The Greater Boston Food Bank, helping to distribute food, especially fresh produce and frozen goods, to where it’s most needed.
