BOISSEVAIN, Va. (WVVA) -The goal of Soulfire Ministries is to make a difference in the world with locations in nine different countries. However, they’re also helping locally, with a church set up in the Abbs Valley-Boissevain area to help give resources to a community in need.
“We just really want to be able to be a blessing to the community and we know there’s a lot of needs and we just reach out to people in the school and just different people around the community and found out there’s a lot of needs, people who need help…” says Joshua Muncy, global pastor and co-CEO of Soulfire Ministries.
“…It seems to be that there’s several elderly people within the community that haven’t been able to get those resources, and we hope to be able to bring that here for them… to kind of spark this area back to life,” says Lauren Muncy, outreach director and co-CEO of Soulfire Ministries.
For the first time as Soulfire Ministries, they began holding a giveaway of food, baby products, clothing and more to help meet that need. All resources they gave away were donated, with support coming from West Virginia and North Carolina.
They were also joined by volunteers from local recovery centers who worked to make a difference in the community through this organization.
“It’s wonderful, I think,” says Mandy Hinkle with Highland House, “It’s a good thing; good resources…”
“I know that there’s a lot of people out there that could definitely use the help, and, you know, some people don’t have the funds to do so, and a program like this, outreach like this, it’s really great,” says Kenneth Necessary, from Recovery Point.
Soulfire Ministries hope to hold similar food giveaways once a month and plan on eventually going weekly. The Muncy family thank the community for welcoming them to the area and for all those who helped them bring this giveaway to life.
Lauren Muncy says there is always a need for volunteers and donations. You can find out more about how to contact them on the Soulfire Ministries Facebook page.
