MOUNT HOREB, Wis. (WMTV) – Camp Invention is a nationally recognized non-profit summer camp program that is coming to Mount Horeb Intermediate Center June 16 through June 27.
The camp challenges kids grades K-6 to get creative and lean into their curious side. Camp Invention take a hands-on learning approach by offering various activities for campers to try out. Things like STEM learning, leadership skills, resourcefulness, confidence, entrepreneurship skills are among the many skills campers will learn.
This years camp will take place at the Mount Horeb Intermediate Center located at 200 Hanneman Boulevard, Mount Horeb, WI 53572. This year offering an Extended Day Experience. The extended day was created with busy families in mind, meaning the camp can run abut an hour later for families that need the time.
Camp Invention 2025 has four main areas of focus. This year, those areas are innovation, creativity, problem solving and persistence.
The innovation portion of the camp will allow campers to make their very own mechanical claw machine. This allows them to discover hands-on physics, and explore different animals and their claws.
The creativity portion of Camp Invention will allow kids to embrace their creative side. They will discover science behind optical illusions in art, movies, attractions, theater and animation. Campers will have the opportunity to design and even test different illusions, allowing them to learn more about special effects.
Problem solving is a big part of all projects at Camp Invention. This year, campers will be going on their very own pretend road trip complete with their own transmitter and receivers to navigate as well as custom dashboard and travel map designed by them.
The final portion of Camp Invention 2025 will focus on instilling persistence in the campers and teaching them to never give up. To teach this, camper will ‘embark’ on an eco-expedition where they will investigate penguins, ice and snow in Antarctica.
