100 local children got the chance to take some swings with the players at Newman Outdoor Field, free of charge.

FARGO, N.D. – RedHawks players weren’t the only ones taking batting practice at Newman Outdoor field before Fargo-Moorhead took on the Lake Country DockHounds.
It was a little earlier in the day, but kids ages 8 to 13 got to take BP with the RedHakws as part of a celebration of Play Ball weekend.
The event was free, though registration was required in advance.
RedHawks players tossed the children pitches, made sure they were being safe in the field, and also answered any questions the kids may have.
Those players said the experience reminded them of where their love of the game began.
“Where I’m from, we didn’t have many of these camps,” said pitcher Tyler Jandron, of Negaunee, Michigan.
“Just getting kids out here, [having them] enjoying what they’re doing is a great opportunity for them.”
RedHawks officials say that 100 kids showed up for the event.
