CHINA SPRING, Texas (KWTX) – A Christian-based baseball and softball camp coming to China Spring is bringing in hundreds of kids from all over Central Texas.
It started as a dream shared by four dads with a deep love for baseball and an even deeper faith.
Reece Meadors, Cody Holt, Clint Fletcher and Justin Tabor didn’t set out to launch a movement. But when Reece followed a calling he says God placed on his heart three years ago, he had no idea it would lead here.
Nearly 600 kids are signed up, from Corsicana to Temple and everywhere in between, to chase discipleship on the diamond.
“We had no idea this was how this was going to shake out,” Meadors says. “Share the word, change some lives and have some fun playing baseball and softball,” Tabor adds.

With the unexpected interest and only two weeks to go, organizers could still really use some help.
Meadors says volunteers are always appreciated, preferably high school kids who could connect with the young players. The biggest obstacle they are facing is providing proper nutrition for the kids during the day.
“Really where we’re hurting is food, to feed about 600 people for four days,” he explains. “You know Jesus fed the 5,000 with some loaves and some fish so I think we can come together as a community to feed 600 kids.”
The founders say this isn’t just a camp, it’s a calling. A chance to use baseball and softball to teach courage, compassion and the power of Christ.
“We just wanted to provide the opportunity for God to work through us and maybe touch some kids lives so we want all of the glory to go to Him and that’s all that matters,” Meadors says.
Registration for this summer is closed but they hope to come back even bigger and better next year.
If anyone is interested in helping volunteer or provide food, you can reach out to the founders on the camp’s Facebook page.
The camp will be held at the China Spring Little League Fields at 1847 Jackson Lane in China Spring, Texas.
