With English as a second language, journalism wasn’t even on my radar. My path went like this: I was terrified to write, so I followed a career in the health field. Creatively unfulfilled, I started writing on the side. I fell in love with it to the point that I left my career to build a new one from scratch, and I knew exactly what I wanted to write about.
Having lived through wars, I wanted to focus on life’s little pleasures. That’s where food writing came into play. But it’s far more than an indulgence. I report on dining and nightlife in Phoenix, which means I get to write about how our city is growing and evolving. I get to write about others who are taking big chances on their dreams. These are stories only local newspapers will tell, and I’m delighted to be the one telling them.
My responsibility is to the truth and my loyalty to my readers, with whom I feel a deep connection and sense of community. I love the world of hospitality, and I love sharing it with all of you.
