Deputies: Woman facing charges for bringing contraband food into Pee Dee jail

DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A former food service provider is facing charges related to contraband food in a Pee Dee jail.

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office says 38-year-old Amber Smith Bon-Homme was arrested and charged with two counts of introduction of contraband items on Wednesday.

Deputies say that on May 10 and June 8, Bon-Homme, while employed as a food service provider for a private contractor at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center, did introduce contraband food items to the facility and provided those to a group of inmates.

The sheriff’s office says video evidence shows Bon-Homme provided outside food items to a select group of inmates that were not purchased by the food provider while operating outside the scope of her job duties.
