Boise getting a new food truck lot off State Street

State Street Food Truck Lot is hosting its grand opening Friday, June 13. The event will consist of rotating trucks all throughout the day and live music.

The lot is located at 3508 W. State St., right by the intersection of State and 36th. This will be the second permanent lot in the area.

“One of the biggest challenges of food truck owners is not only finding places to park, but also informing the public of where they’re parking and what days they’re parking there,” said Tim Rogan, the president of the Idaho Food Truck Association.

The idea behind the lot is to allow for food trucks to rent a spot from one day up to a month, giving that food truck owner a fixed place for people to find them.

Food truck owners see this as an opportunity to continue to build their presence and get more foot traffic.

“A food truck lot like this that has a lot of traffic coming through, it could make the difference of a business, a food truck business, surviving or not surviving,” said Edward Aguirre, the owner of Pop’s Treasure Valley Taqueria.

With the lot being off a busy street and by a busy intersection, many hope that the traffic will drive more people to them. One food truck owner even equating it to a pop-up shop scenario.

“It gives you the opportunity to showcase your product, and to get your name and brand out there,” said Tyler Anzalone, owner of Anzalone Pizza.

The lot is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For the grand opening, food trucks will be cycling in and out, so there are plenty of options to try.
