(KNSI) – Wednesday is Kids Day at the Waite Park Family Fun Fest.
In many ways, it marks the true beginning of the event. Centered at the Community Park, the Boy Scouts will be out selling hot dogs, chips, and pop to support the local troop. Family Fun Fest Committee Member Roxanne Ryan Layne runs down some of the big activities planned. “There’s inflatables from 12:30 to 5:30, then there’s going to be a kid’s project build sponsored by Home Depot. There’s free train tours of the train cars over on Third Street [at the STARail Museum].”
The day wraps up with a bike helmet giveaway and cookie decorating, leading up to one of the festival’s most beloved traditions. Ryan Lane beams, “The Kiddie Parade…kids can get registered, and the theme is dress up in red, white and blue, and there will be some cash prizes for the different age groups.”
There is also a cash prize for best float. The fun hardly stops before Thursday at 8:00 a.m. arrives, and city-wide garage sales and other activities begin again.
