Police dog helps catch food burglar in Grays Harbor County

A police dog helped nab a food burglar Tuesday afternoon, according to the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office.

Right around noon, deputies were called to a home along the Olympic Highway for a burglary in progress. The homeowner found a stranger in their house, helping themselves to some food, authorities said.

It is believed the burglar got in through an unlocked door.

“Deputies responded swiftly to the scene,” according to a post on the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. “This included Deputy McKechnie and his K9 partner, Titus, along with Lt. Ramirez, who formed a search team and began searching the wooded area.”

Other deputies were also called out. They got some help from a nearby Hoquiam Police Department detective and a Fish and Wildlife officer and set up containment.

“Following the sharp nose of K9 Titus, the subject was quickly located and taken into custody,” the post said.
