Fernson Downtown will begin serving its new food menu June 11 from Totally Rad Eats, Fernson Brewing Company announced via Facebook. The taproom and kitchen have already hosted two soft openings for friends, family and individuals, which included accepting walk-ins the weekend of June 7-8.
Nearly three weeks after Wagoo Burger moved out of Fernson Downtown’s kitchen, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served alongside one’s brew of choice, whether caffeinated or carbonated.
Totally Rad Eats is a new concept of Fernson’s new Director of Food & Beverage Operations, Beau Vondra. Vondra is a well-known Sioux Falls chef and former co-owner of Look’s Marketplace for nearly 17 years.
Vondra brings notable culinary experience to Fernson. He’s the winner of nearly $18,000 on Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games in 2023, appeared on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2021 and earned a Good Food Award for his hot sauce, Dagger and Arrow Diablo Verde.
Vondra’s menu is the result of “collaboration, care and creativity from both longtime staff and new team members,” the Facebook announcement read.
To start the day off right, the breakfast menu will serve sandwiches and burritos and other grab-and-go items such as avocado toast, oatmeal and yogurt granola parfaits.
For lunch and dinner, patrons can choose from a variety of options like the Totally Rad burger, inspired by Vondra’s creation on Guy’s Grocery Games in 2023: a double onion smash with new school American cheese, grainaise and pickles on a Martin’s potato bun.
Other choices include three hot dog variations, sandwiches, salad, appetizers, dessert and even a kids’ menu.
“At Fernson, we’ve always said our beer is made for sharing,” the June 9 Facebook post stated. “Now, with Totally Rad Eats, we finally have the food we’ve always dreamed of to pair with our world-class beer!”
Fernson Downtown’s hours remain the same, open at 7 a.m.- 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, until 10 p.m. on Thursday and will close at 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There will still be food options on June 10 for Trivia Night, including pizza and other snacks.
