BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A new collaboration between Kentucky Kids on the Block and local musicians is bringing educational lessons to life through music.
The initiative aims to turn the important messages already taught by Kids on the Block into original songs that kids can easily understand—and remember.
The first song, “Block, Report, Private,” launched in January and focused on the topic of cyberbullying. With funding now secured for a second track, the organization hopes to create a total of 13 songs covering a wide range of issues that children face.
Staff say the music-based approach will reinforce key messages and enhance the impact of their programming—and there may even be a chance for local kids to get involved.
“We are looking for kids that can sing,” said Amanda Guerra, Director of Programs and lead puppeteer for KOTB. “We’re working on guidelines now so kids can audition virtually. We want local talent featured in these songs.”
The next release will focus on problem-solving and is expected to drop soon.
