From coffee to Italian food, 5 new places to open in this Collin County city

The city of McKinney is experiencing a culinary boom and will soon have a variety of new places where diners can enjoy everything from coffee to a sit-down dinner.

Here are restaurants and other food businesses that opened recently or will in the coming months in one of the fastest-growing cities in North Texas in recent years.

Black Rock Coffee Bar

The coffee shop, which has several locations across the country and North Texas, opened a new branch in McKinney last week. It offers a menu of hot and cold beverages, locally made pastries and breakfast options.

Eat Drink D-FW

The latest food and drink reviews, recipes and info on the D-FW food scene.

Black Rock Coffee Bar began as a small café in Beaverton, Ore., in 2008 and now has more than 140 locations in Arizona, Colorado, Texas, California, Washington, Idaho and Oregon.

Centro on the Square

The new venture by restaurateurs George Stergios, owner of Knife Steakhouse Plano, and Brian Dunne, owner of Mexican Bar Company, will open in downtown McKinney.

In a 5,400-square-foot space, the concept will be an Italian restaurant, according to Community Impact, offering pasta, salads and entrees with locally sourced ingredients.

The soft opening is expected to be in June, with normal operations starting at the end of the month.

Kolache Factory

The Houston-based kolache chain opened a new store in McKinney during the last week of May.

Kolache Factory was founded in 1982 by John Banks and his late wife, Jerri, and now has more than 60 locations. Emily Chen, a professional residential mortgage broker, owns the McKinney store.

Stella’s Ice Cream

The Idaho-born ice cream chain will open its third location in Texas and chose McKinney as its site.

In addition to this location, Stella’s has a store in Little Elm and plans to open another location in Celina. According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction is expected to be completed in June.

Sweet Paris Creperie & Cafe

The restaurant specializing in crêpes and other French-inspired dishes opened a new location in McKinney this month.

The new restaurant is located inside the West Grove retail center, where you can order savory crêpes, salads, beverages and more.
