
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man was arrested Saturday after allegedly driving his car into a police cruiser at Veteran’s Memorial Park.
According to an arrest citation, Jeffersontown Police officers were investigating an unrelated crash at the park around 8 p.m. when a second crash occurred.
Giovanni Salmeron was trying to leave the park but traffic was blocked by a unoccupied Jeffersontown Police cruiser. Salmeron ran into the police cruiser, backed up, and ripped off his front bumper.
There were two young boys in the car with Salmeron, both under the age of 12, according to the citation. Neither of them were hurt.
Salmeron had a very strong odor of alcohol in his breath and he had poor balance.
Police also noted that the incident happened on a day where hundreds of people were in the park, putting them all in danger.
Salmeron is charged with wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and other numerous charges.
