KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Several Knoxville families gathered in Safety City on Thursday to learn CPR with the help of medical professionals.
In light of CPR and AED Awareness Week, the American Heart Association hosted a hands-on learning session teaching CPR with the help of certified instructors. Children were able to learn the lifesaving steps of the procedure using baby and adult mannequins.
Experts at the event shared the importance of responding quickly and finding a beat, saying you should always call 911 before starting CPR on a person in distress. According to a release, more than 350,0000 people experience cardiac arrests outside of a hospital each year, including 23,000 children.
