The Douglas County Kids’ Fishing Derby returned this weekend to Lampe Park in Gardnerville.
Taking place June 7 and 8, the event was free for all children 3-12 years old.
Each child was allowed a two-fish limit, and each participant was given a special gate prize.
Prizes were also awarded to the angler who had caught the biggest fish in each session, as well as the biggest fish during the entire derby.
A session for all-ages special needs anglers was held on Saturday, to include any fishing enthusiasts that might need assistance.
Organizers say that the Kids’ Fishing Derby has been getting kids “hooked on fishing” for over 32 years now.
