Community event raises money for kids in medical crisis

ESSEX, Vt. (WCAX) – Lots of people got out in the sunshine today, to honor and remember a little girl named Addi.

Over three hundred people registered to be apart of the their annual big beautiful life run, inspired by 12 year old Addi Carroll, who died of a rare blood disease, in 2022.

The goal is to raise funds for the non-profit ‘Big Beautiful Life’ the money going to kids in medical crisis.

Over a dozen first responders attended the event at the Essex Middle School so kids could touch-a-truck.

18 other non-profits that surrounded Addi’s family in a time of need were also there showcasing their services and raising funds.

“Really trying to encourage the community and come out. Start to think of this as a community event. You really don’t have to be a runner, a walker, a roller. Just come out and have fun. I am feeling close to Addie. I am feeling like she sends us the sunshine, and she sends us this joy,” said Tammy Carroll, Big Beautiful Life Co-founder and Addi’s Mom.

Organizers say the event gets bigger and bigger every year and Addi’s family appreciates everyone for their support.
