Frequently Asked Questions About Free Summer Activities in Connecticut
How do I find out about free events happening each week?
Connecticut Mommy Poppins has you covered! Check out our Activities Calendar for free daily events the whole family will love.
Are these activities suitable for all ages?
Our list features a huge variety of free kids’ activities for all ages – from toddlers to teenager. Some events are best for a specific age group, so be sure to check each listing for details and age recommendations. And remember – you know your kid best! Even with age suggestions, some activities may be a better fit than others depending on their interests.
What should I bring to a free outdoor event?
It really depends on the event. For outdoor concerts and movies, bring foldable chairs or a blanket. For hikes, parks, or festivals, be sure to pack sunscreen, plenty of snacks, water bottles, sunglasses, and hats. It’s also smart to keep beach towels, an extra swimsuit, and a change of clothes in the car—just in case. And don’t forget a portable hand fan—it’s a lifesaver on hot days, whether clipped to a stroller or used to cool everyone down.
How early should I arrive for popular free events?
Arriving at the beginning of an event is usually your best bet. You’ll avoid larger crowds, have an easier time finding good parking (which means less walking with the kids), and be able to explore at a more relaxing pace. Festivals and outdoor events often have more to see and do than expected, so getting there early gives you the flexibility to stay longer and enjoy everything without feeling rushed.
