Who has the cheapest fast food? The results of this study are surprising

Everywhere you look, there’s an advertisement for a fast-food company’s latest value meal.

And if you use an app to get the best meals, you’re inundated with notifications about buy-one-get-one offers or free add-ons with the purchase of a single item.

However, when you get down to the basic costs of eating fast food, the place with the cheapest food might come as a surprise.

Who has the cheapest fast food?

Online casino experts Kasinohai analyzed 54 items across six categories from nine fast-food chains to find which establishment gives customers the most for their money based on price per calorie.

The overall winner for the cheapest fast food was Taco Bell. The restaurant chain averaged a second-place ranking in the six categories.

Wendy’s was second, with an average category finish score of 3.5. Burger King was third, averaging a fourth-place ranking.

How was Taco Bell the cheapest fast-food place?

Taco Bell’s Breakfast Crunchwrap Sausage was the best value in the breakfast category at 63 cents per 100 calories, and the Nacho Fries were the winner in the fries category at 75 cents per 100 calories.

Wendy’s rode the Classic Chocolate Frosty to second place. The beloved dessert nudged out Taco Bell’s Cinnabon Delights for the cheapest overall dessert. The two items tied at 71 cents per 100 calories, but the Cinnabon Delights had more total calories at a higher overall cost.

Burger King’s chicken nuggets helped it take third. The 10-piece nuggets were 77 cents per 100 calories, beating KFC and Chick-fil-A.

Popeyes wins chicken sandwich wars

Popeyes, which finished in fourth place overall, won this battle in its chicken sandwich battle with Chick-fil-A. Popeyes’ Classic Chicken Sandwich costs 76 cents per 100 calories, which was half the cost of Chick-fil-A’s chicken sandwich, which finished at $1.66 per 100 calories. However, Popeyes’ sandwich benefited from having 907 calories.

KFC’s Classic Chicken Sandwich finished second at 84 cents per 100 calories.

Which restaurant was the most expensive?

McDonald’s came in last, finishing last in four of the six categories. The Egg McMuffin was the priciest breakfast item at $1.74 per 100 calories. The Oreo McFlurry was the most expensive dessert at $1.41 per 100 calories. McDonald’s 10-piece McNuggets, at $2.05 per 100 calories, finished ahead of only Chick-fil-A ($2.84 per 100 calories).
