We asked for your views on Tottenham sacking manager Ange Postecoglou.
Here are some of your comments:
Steven: Cannot believe he wasn’t given one more year – the injuries throughout the season were an indictment of the board’s financial constraints, leading to a small squad susceptible to injury – which board members are resigning in shame? We know the answer – none.
Art: Levy must stay out of the game; he clearly doesn’t understand. It can’t always be the manager at fault – we have had some of the best in the world. Ange should, at the very least, have been given the Super Cup game.
Paul: Shocking/wrong decision, but consistent with boardroom decisions in the past. What other clubs would identify it as a failure to complete a season with a European trophy and entry into the Champions League and then sack the manager? Disgraceful!!
Stephen: 100% the right decision – incredible to win the Europa this year, but tactically inept at any decent level. Excuses all season – squad is top six – coach was bottom six.
Trev: I think Levy is right to sack him now. I’m sure he will do well in many other leagues, but the Premier League is relentless. He was tactically naive. However, who would come to Spurs at the moment?
Tom: Relieved! It’s great winning a trophy for the first time in 17 years, but we can’t forget the embarrassment in the league this season with Arsenal and Chelsea doing the double on us, not to mention the record number of losses. He was simply out of his depth. Now, with Champions League football, we can attract a better manager.
