CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Cedar Rapids Downtown Farmers Market kicked off its 20th season on Saturday, drawing thousands to the heart of downtown for a morning of local food, live entertainment, and community celebration.
More than 200 vendors lined the streets from 1st to 5th Street SE, offering everything from fresh produce and baked goods to handmade crafts. Families enjoyed performances by musicians, dancers, jugglers, and more, creating a festive, high-energy atmosphere.
This year’s milestone season, presented by Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust, will continue with seven more Saturday markets through September 20, plus the popular Market After Dark event on August 23.
The June 7 market also featured Residents Appreciation Day, hosted by the City of Cedar Rapids, and a booth promoting the CR School Bond initiative, where attendees could learn about plans to update local school facilities.
Organizers praised the strong community turnout and highlighted the market’s continued efforts to increase food access through programs like SNAP and WIC, as well as ongoing partnerships with local organizations to collect donations for area food pantries.
