The transfer window is open for a shortened period between 1 June and 10 June to enable transfers to be made ahead of the summer’s Club World Cup.
Manchester United have began their needed rebuild after a disastrous season, and have secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m, with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo their next target. An initial bid of £45m plus add ons was below the Bees’ valuation but the club’s are still at the negotiating table. Captain Bruno Fernandes also provided a boost by turning down a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.
Manchester City, meanwhile, have agreed a fee to sign AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and Liverpool have also been busy putting in a club-record bid for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz while goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has left for Brentford. The Reds also wrapped up a deal to bring Jeremie Frimpong to Anfield by triggering his £29.5m release clause.
Arsenal, meanwhile, may have hit a snag in their attempted addition of Martin Zubimendi but Mikel Arteta has sanctioned talks with RB Leipzig over striker Benjamin Sesko in their ongoing pursuit for a No 9.

Cristiano Ronaldo sends Portugal past Germany to Nations League final on night of drama
The 40-year-old was confronted by a pitch invader who wanted a selfie ahead of kick-off before scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 semi-final victory over Germany in Munich.
The hosts had gone in front early in the second half when Liverpool transfer target Florian Wirtz headed home but Roberto Martinez’s men hit back with two goals in five minutes.
Lyon sign Katoto from PSG
OL Lyonnes have signed France forward Marie-Antoinette Katoto from Paris St Germain on a four-year contract, the French women’s league champions said on Wednesday.
Katoto came up through PSG’s academy and became the club’s leading goalscorer with 180 goals in 223 games, winning the Premiere Ligue in 2021 as well as three Coupe de France titles.
The 26-year-old has made 53 appearances for France’s national team, scoring 37 goals.
She becomes the first signing under new coach Jonatan Giraldez, who was appointed on Monday to replace the Australia-bound Joe Montemurro.
Lyonnes, formerly known as Olympique Lyonnais Feminin, are widely regarded as the most successful women’s soccer club in the world and have won a record eight Women’s Champions League titles.
They were crowned Premiere Ligue champions for the 18th time in the 2024-25 season and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Marcus Rashford willing to reduce salary to join Barcelona
Man United are looking for a buyer for Marcus Rashford this summer and Barcelona could be on the cards.
Barca were interested in Rashford in January, before he went on loan to Aston Villa, but were unable to meet his wage demands.
However, Spanish outlet Marca are now reporting that Rashford is prepared to drastically lower his salary requirements to join the Catalan giants.

Mings signs Villa contract extension
Tyrone Mings has signed a contract extension with Aston Villa.
The 32-year-old England defender has made more than 180 appearances for the club since joining from Bournemouth in 2019.
He was sidelined for more than a year with a knee injury suffered at the start of the 2023-24 season but returned last October and made 22 appearances in all competitions.
Mings told Villa’s website: “In the time I’ve been at the club, we’ve had quite the journey.
“Every player signs for a club hoping they can contribute positively towards something successful and my belief that we can achieve something extra special is stronger than ever.
“I thank the fans, the manager, the staff and the players for their unwavering support both on and off the pitch through one of the toughest periods of my career.
“I’m sure that next season will be our best one yet!”
Roma interested in Norwich striker
Serie A side Roma are interested in signing Norwich City striker Josh Sargent.
Sky Sports are reporting that Sargent is among the names at the top of Roma’s attacking target list and while Norwich are aware of the interest, they are yet to receive a concrete offer.
The 25-year-old USA international is contracted to Norwich until the summer of 2028 and was named in the Championship Team of the Season after 15 goals and five assists in all competitions.
Arsenal hope to tie down Myles Lewis-Skelly to new deal
Real Madrid are seemingly attempting to take another exciting full-back out of the Premier League following their signing of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Spanish side have their sights on Arsenal’s breakout star of the season, Myles Lewis-Skelly.
This rumor comes just as the 18-year-old begins discussions over a new contract with the north London club – and the Mail believe that he will put pen to paper on a new deal.
How will Jeremie Frimpong fit into Arne Slot’s Liverpool line-up?
Jeremie Frimpong, 24, has completed his Anfield switch after three-and-a-half glorious years at Bayer Leverkusen, where under the tutelage of ex-Reds maestro Xabi Alonso, he helped guide the German outfit to a historic unbeaten domestic double in 2023/24.
He signs for £29.5m after Liverpool activated his release clause – a bargain of a fee, given the fact he has been one of the best on the globe in his position for the past two or so years.
Buying Florian Wirtz reveals Liverpool’s new ambition – and poses a question for Arne Slot
When Florian Wirtz was 18, he was interviewed by Bayer Leverkusen’s club magazine. The headline was a quote from the teenager: “I have big dreams”.
If he leaves, as looks likely, it will be after making Leverkusen’s biggest come true and yet while showing he didn’t share the dream of many a star at Germany’s other clubs. From Lothar Matthaus to Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane, they gravitated to Bayern, given their guarantee of trophies.
The Bavarian dominance in the 21st century has been aided by an ability to raid the rest of Germany for their prized assets. Michael Ballack, taken from Leverkusen, was a pioneer.
Jonathan Tah, going from Leverkusen this summer, follows in his footsteps, just as Dortmund were plundered when they represented Bayern’s major rivals.
Grealish to miss out on Club World Cup?
Jack Grealish is not expected to be on the Manchester City plane bound for the Club World Cup later this month, according to The Telegraph.
Is this a telling sign that the once-£100m man’s time at the Etihad is coming to an end?
City have yet to submit their 35-man squad for the tournament and are reportedly willing to listen to offers for the winger.
Grealish’s wages may be off putting for potential clubs though and a loan move away could be the best option for Grealish.

Luka Modric nearing move to Serie A
Luka Modric has departed Real Madrid but his time at the top level does not seem to be over yet.
AC Milan are increasingly confident they can get a deal for free agent Modric over the line with a verbal agreement almost ready.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who says the Croatian will sign on a two-year deal.
