AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Public Library is set to host its annual Kids Block Party, a free family event that promises to put the “lit” in literature. Communications Manager Baylor Johnson and Librarian Alanna Graves shared details about the event, which is perfect for families looking to kick off their summer with some fun and learning.
Guests can expect a variety of crafts and activities designed to engage children in learning through play. “It is activities for kids of all ages. And it’s our kickoff to, our summer experience. We’ve got laughs, we’ve got, learning opportunities. We’ve got some activities that we’re going to do together here in just a minute. And, we have a laser light show. Yeah, we have craft crawl. ” said Johnson. The party will feature hands-on activities that encourage creativity and exploration.
Graves added that attendees will also have an opportunity to flex their crafting skills, “We’re having a kids craft crawl. And so back by popular demand, we are featuring crafts that are going to also be happening at summer at APL kids events all summer long, across all of Austin public Library locations.”
In addition to the block party, the Austin Public Library has a lineup of exciting events planned for the summer. Families can look forward to more opportunities for fun and educational experiences at the library.
Johnson shared a new aspect to the block party this year, “We’re expanding across the street to the Seaholm intake facility, which, we’re really excited to be partnering with other city departments to give this really awesome free experience to Austin families. They’re also going to be hosting and sponsored by the Trail Conservancy, which is really exciting because the trail connects the library, the Central Library and the Seaholm intake building so families can enjoy the trail while they actually experience a block party, like a city block or city block”
