JPD’s motorcycle rodeo, car show join forces to raise funds for D.A.R.E. program

Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 4, 2025 — The second annual AMPA Arkansas Only Police Motorcycle Rodeo and the third annual Engines Inc. D.A.R.E. 2 Show Your Ride Car Show fundraiser are partnering to raise money for the Jonesboro D.A.R.E. program.

The event will begin Saturday, June 14, at 9 a.m. with the motorcycle rodeo, followed by the car show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Joe Mack Campbell Park.

Spectators will have the chance to watch motorcycle officers show off their skills and compete in different events, before heading over to the car show, where they can see different vehicles and check out various vendors, food trucks, music, inflatables, games, and more.

JPD motorcycle officer Cpl. Zach Kaja said this is the only police motorcycle rodeo in the state.

“The motorcycle rodeo is going to consist of law-enforcement motor officers,” Kaja said. “Our rodeo is he only one in the state of Arkansas. They have a lot of them in Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Missouri. They have them all over, but Arkansas did not have one at all. We did the first one last year and we tried to do it with the car show it just couldn’t work out, but we got it figured out this year.”

Rodeo participants will be from JPD, Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Smith Police Department, Little Rock Police Department, Searcy Police Department and possibly the Fayetteville Police Department.

“Everybody figured out that it was a lot of fun last year and they all want to be involved now,” Kaja said. “That was my goal… to make [the rodeo] a big thing that people would want to see and everybody would love.”

Participants will compete in three events: the Solo Ride, the Team Ride and the Slow Race. The three judges, who are all former motorcycle officers themselves, will then award first, second, and third places to each of these three categories, as well an overall winner.

The Arkansas Municipal Police Association (AMPA) is sponsoring the event. T-shirt sales and the $25 registration cost for riders will benefit the program.

Participants can register up to the day of the event. To pre-register, call Kaja at 870-336-7211.

“I think this year we’re going to have a lot more spectators, being with the car show as well,” Kaja said, noting that car enthusiasts, motorcycle clubs, and families will love both events. “It’s going to be a big thing and [the spectators] will have all kinds of fun and it’s all free for people come watch.”

JPD D.A.R.E. officer Lynae Prater said the car show was moving to Joe Mack Campbell Park this year because the event has grown so quickly over the past two years.

“This is our third year putting on the car show and we’re looking to make it bigger and better,” Prater said. “We’ve actually moved it over to Joe Mack from Nettleton to combine with the motorcycle rodeo that one of our motor guys is putting on too. Both events are going to benefit D.A.R.E.  and they’re happening at the same place, same time so the community can get a little bit of both at the same time.”

Both events are free to the public, however she noted that if someone wants to enter in their car, they can pre-register here on the 2025 D.A.R.E. 2 Show Your Ride Car Show.

Vehicle entry fees are $40 for the first vehicle, $60 for two vehicle and $70 for three or more.

“You can either pre-register on Race Roster or you can actually also register the day of the car show,” Prater said, noting that, preregistration gives participants a better idea of what to plan for. “But it’s not a problem whatsoever for them to just show up that morning and put their car in the show.”

Prater said she hopes for a huge turnout: “Last year we had roughly 130-140 cars so definitely hoping for 150+ on the vehicle register side, but it’s going to be a whole lot of fun, especially moving it out to Joe Mack.”
