ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) – If you’re looking to get your kids into fishing, you’ll want to take them to Elkhart this weekend!
The Elkhart Environmental Center, Elkhart Parks & Recreation and Public Works Aquatic Biology Departments are hosting the third annual free fishing clinic for kids on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at High Dive Park off Baldwin Street.
Kids ages 7 and older will visit five stations during the clinic to learn the following important aspects of fishing:
- Stewardship
- Conservation
- Safety & Casting
- Knot Tying
- Basic Tackle
Kids who complete the clinic will receive a free rod and reel (while supplies last) and can stick around the pond to get some experience. They can also check out live fish from the Elkhart River, courtesy of the city’s aquatic biologists.
Annie Klehfoth, environmental projects coordinator at the Elkhart Environmental Center, joined us on WNDU 16 News Now at Noon to tell us all about Saturday’s free fishing event. You can learn more by watching the video above!
