A long-running Syracuse car show is revving up fans after appearing on national television.
The Syracuse Nationals were featured on “Bitchin’ Rides,” a Motor Trend TV show, on Wednesday. The episode featured host Dave Kindig visiting the 2024 event, bringing his rig, film crew and cars to the New York State Fairgrounds while checking out vehicles from participating car enthusiasts.
Kindig, who owns Kindig-it Design in Salt Lake City, Utah, and shop foreman Kevin Schiele said it was the first time taking their rig and cameras that far east.
“Bitchin’ Rides,” now in its 11th season, follows Kindig and his team as they work on all types and periods of cars, including custom restorations and one-of-a-kind builds from the ground up.
The Syracuse Nationals episode, titled “New York State of Mind” (season 11, episode 12), aired Wednesday, May 28. A special advance screening was also held last week at the Movie Tavern theater in Camillus.
Fans can still watch the “Bitchin’ Rides” episode on demand at go.discovery.com with a cable TV subscription. Motor Trend TV is a Discovery Go cable channel featuring automotive programming; earlier seasons of the reality show “Bitchin’ Rides” are also streaming on Max and Discovery+.
The Syracuse Nationals, the largest car show in the Northeast, returns July 18-20 at the NYS Fairgrounds. This year’s 25th anniversary event will feature more than 7,500 classic cars and hot rods, contests, celebrities like “American Graffiti” actress Candy Clark and the cast of the History Channel’s “Counting Cars,” and appearances by iconic TV vehicles like the Mystery Machine from “Scooby-Doo,” the Batmobile from “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and “The Jetsons” futuristic flying car.
