CANANDAIGUA — The highly anticipated 2025 International Festival and Euro Car Celebration in Downtown Canandaigua was held May 17.
Inclement weather didn’t deter car enthusiasts and onlookers, as shiny classic and vintage cars manufactured in Germany, England, Europe, and Japan prior to 2000 cruised Main Street. These automobiles served as an incredible backdrop to the international performances and food, including African drummer and author Mayukwa and traditional Irish music performed by the band Everheart.
People’s Choice Awards were left in the hands of festival goers, as they cast their ballots. The People’s Choice award went to Pittsford native Mark Reinhart and his turquoise 1966 VW Beetle. Second place was Don Sweeny and his blue 1958 MG MGA.
William Wright’s 1996 Carbodies, an English black taxi cab, took the award for Most Unique.
The 215 miles from Voorheesville, N.Y., to Canandaigua didn’t discourage Michael Aikey from driving his 1969 MG C GT to participate in the show, winning the Furthest Traveled award.
And, Best in Show was awarded to Canandaigua native John Malvaso and his gray 1964 Porsche 356C.
These cars were just a small portion of the incredible automobiles that attended this year’s festival.
Hosted by the Canandaigua Business Improvement District, this year’s festival sponsors were Maguire Auto, Renewal by Anderson, Kix on Main, and whilewestillcan.org.
