Riot Games Announces That Valorant Will Switch to UE5 in July

Riot Games has announced in a recent developer update that Valorant will be transitioning to Unreal Engine 5.

The update is planned to launch with patch 11.02 at the end of July. Valorant was powered by Unreal Engine 4 since its release in 2020, and overall, Riot Games used UE4 to develop the title for over 10 years. Currently, the team works to make sure that the upgrade doesn’t disrupt the gameplay and that the game’s overall look and feel stays similar. The switch will introduce improved framerate performance and faster patch downloads in the future.
