GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -The start of June marks the start of a lot of things. For many kids around the country, it represents the start of summer break. With kids out of school, many parents will be looking for ways to spend time with their kids.
Jennies Playhouse had its grand reopening on March 25, and it came at a good time for some parents. Jennifer Montoya, the Owner of Jennies Playhouse, said they aim to give kids a space to play and give parents a place to relax if they want to.
The indoor children’s play center has things like a pretend play town and bounce houses for kids to play in. Montoya said they specialize in both imaginative and active play for children.
“Their imaginations are one of those things that they can just think outside of the box. The kids that come in here, just seeing them laughing and playing, and then the excitement when they realize that, oh my gosh, this is the place we used to play at, and they can come back and play. It’s all worth it. So, I do it all for the kids,” said Montoya
Montoya also said there’s more to the business than just children having fun. She said it also provides kids with several benefits, including development and socialization.
“One thing that pretend play does that works on the cognitive, the social, the emotional works on their self-esteem, their confidence when they could actually do something on their own,” said Montoya.
Montoya also said they focus on the safety of the children. “It’s really important… We do have a safety protocol here with the kids. So, as kids come in, we give them a wristband that matches the adult they came in with. And we do have gates in front of the front entrance. So, kids can’t just run out… And then as a child leaves, we check the wristbands, ensuring that the child is leaving with the right adult,” said Montoya.
