School is almost out for summer, but that doesn’t mean school lunches are too.
Adelanto Elementary School District is launching a free meal program this summer, available to all High Desert youth ages 18 and under, no matter their resident school district.
Krissy Cooley, an employee of the Adelanto Elementary School District’s Child Nutrition Services Department, is excited to offer her community a free nutritious meal, a program that typically receives approximately 100 children each day in the summer.
The Adelanto Elementary School District is committed to supporting the health and well-being of its students and the community, district members told the Daily Press.
The meals will be given from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. from June 9 to July 13 at Donald F. Bradach Elementary, 15550 Bellflower St., Adelanto. In observance of Juneteenth, however, there will be no lunch served on June 19.
Donald F. Bradach is centrally located within the Adelanto Elementary School District, making it the ideal choice for the meal site this year, school district representatives said.
Free meals can also be picked up from Imogene Garner Hook Junior High in Victorville. For more information and to find other free meals during the summer, visit: https://www.fns.usda.gov/summer/sitefinder.
