RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – After being postponed, the first ever Black Hills Food Truck Fest made its way to Black Hills Harley Davidson on Saturday.
The parking lot, which is usually filled with motorcycles, had thousands of people walking around, enjoying a DJ, live music, games, tattoos and, of course, food.
Thirty-four local food truck operators, from The Good Stuffed and The Fork Real to Mercy’s Tacos, brought their cuisine.
The event was originally meant to kick off Family Food Truck night, but due to poor weather it was postponed a week.
Jesse Lee, owner of The Good Stuffed, said it was a relief to see how many people came out to support local businesses.
“You never know how a first time event is going to turn out with the crowd, but it’s been talked about all over town,” Lee said. “The turnout so far is fantastic and it’s going to be even better when Flannel hits that stage, it’s going to be packed in here.”
Lee said he is looking forward to many more Food Truck Fests to come. He added more live music will be added throughout the day and is hopeful to have at least 40 trucks in attendance next year.
