FREDRICK, Okla. (KSWO) – The Tillman County Food Bank held a big garage sale recently.
The garage sale was held today May 30, and will be ending at 5 p.m. but, it will be continuing from 8 a.m. to noon on May 31 at the Tillman County Food Bank.
The food bank does this entire donation-based sale at least three times a year and is entirely donation-based, with residents from around the area giving them items to sell off.
They’ll be using the money from this sale to purchase food and maintain the food bank.
The food bank’s director says it shows the importance of volunteer work, both for this event and for the food bank.
“If it wasn’t for volunteers, this would not work,” Director of Tillman County Food Bank, Tammi Scharick said. “Everyone that is part of the food bank is totally volunteer, no one gets paid. And, it’s teamwork, without the team, I couldn’t do it.”
The next sale is expected to be around the fall.
