Pint-sized adventurers have a new way to travel like a star.
Rimowa has reimagined its bestselling Essential Lite Cabin carry-on in a new kid-friendly edition that’s about 30 percent smaller than its grown-up counterpart. Priced at $700, the lightweight suitcase weighs only 4.4 pounds and boasts a capacity of 7.4 gallons, making it a cinch for little ones to pull their essentials and breeze through airports, hotels and wherever their travels take them.
The Essential Lite Cabin U case comes in Gloss Starfish (a red-orange shade) and Scuba Blue and is made from the same sturdy polycarbonate shell as the rest of Rimowa’s Essential Lite lineup. A set of 24 charming stickers are included so explorers can deck out their luggage with their favorite sea creatures, foods and vehicles. Other features include TSA-approved locks, 360-degree ball-bearing mounted wheels and a telescopic handle that adjusts to three positions. Inside, kiddos can keep their goods organized with the zipped mesh dividers.
Like all of Rimowa’s luggage, the case is covered by the heritage company’s lifetime guarantee that covers repairs on “functional aspects” such as accidental damage to zippers, wheels, handles and other elements.
The Rimowa Essential Lite Cabin U launch follows the company’s equally colorful Holiday Hand-Carry Case that was released in March. The German travel accessories brand was a celebrity staple at Cannes, with stars including Spike Lee (who also wore Rimowa to the Met Gala), Patrick Schwarzenegger, Juliette Binoche, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu and Vittoria Ceretti among those spotted rolling through Cannes Mandeliu Airport and elsewhere with the company’s classic aluminum and polycarbonate luggage.
The brand’s global ambassadors include Blackpink singer Rosé, Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, Taiwanese actor and filmmaker Jay Chou, French soccer player Kylian Mbapp and others; while Rihanna, Patti Smith, LeBron James and Roger Federer have previously starred in campaigns. (We fully expect to see RiRi and A$AP Rocky’s little ones with their own Rimowa gear.)
