Gravel riding and local farming come together in the second annual Fresh Farm Fondo in West Routt County this summer.
Hayden Fresh Farm, Ride Workshop and Mountain Tap Brewery have teamed up for a second time, inviting local bike riders to learn about local farming while riding around rural Routt County on July 20.
This year’s event includes 51-, 36- and 6-mile course options, all starting and finishing at Hayden Fresh Farm. The ride is meant to be noncompetitive and puts special emphasis on taking in the sights of the local landscape and agricultural operations.
Following the ride, Michelle and Colby Townsend, owners of Hayden Fresh Farm, will educate participants about the challenges and successes of their agricultural business.
The post-ride meal will be provided by Mountain Tap, offering a sampling of the farm’s products made into pizzas.
The event is permitted by the county and limited to 75 participants to limit impact on roadways. Ride Workshop, a local bike outfitter, will provide on-route support.
“This is how you build community, support economic development, and share what Routt County has to offer,” said Corey Piscopo, owner of Ride Workshop.
