Both Penn State and Pittsburgh each had a player named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list for the upcoming college football season Wednesday.

Penn State junior cornerback A.J. Harris was named to the list while Pitt redshirt junior linebacker Kyle Louis was the Panthers’ representative.

The Lott IMPACT Trophy is awarded annually to the student-athlete who best exhibits the characteristics of Ronnie Lott by making an impact on and off the field. IMPACT is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Lott, the longtime San Francisco 49er, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

There will be 42 student-athletes selected to choose from for the annual award for integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity.
