OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) – Governor Kevin Stitt has signed House Bill 1075, or the Protect Our Kids Act.
Authored by Representative Derrick Hildebrant, the bill is aimed at correcting how misconduct is reported by school districts.
Before if a teacher resigned during an investigation there was no requirement to report or finish it.
Now superintendents must send termination recommendations to the State Education Department regardless of when the employee resigns.
If the employee applies to another district they have the ability to submit a response to accompany said document.
