EA Cancels Black Panther Game & Shuts Down Its Developer

While there hasn’t been much buzz surrounding the game, with details being quite scarce and the development process largely under wraps, the shutdown still comes as a bit of a surprise, having been revealed not through a public announcement but in an internal email to staff from EA Entertainment President Laura Miele, obtained by IGN.

According to the email, the game and its creator were taken behind the barn because EA wants to “sharpen our focus and put our creative energy behind the most significant growth opportunities,” though no concrete reasons were given beyond this PR-speak.

Alongside the shutdown of Cliffhanger and the cancellation of the Black Panther title, EA is also firing an undisclosed number of employees from its mobile and central teams, with this new round of cuts reported to be smaller than the one last month, which affected around 300 to 400 workers.
