Next week, a 53-foot semi-trailer will deliver a 30,000-pound food donation to the York County Food Bank.

The truckload of goods, including shelf-stable canned goods and dry commodities, will arrive from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ distribution center in Salt Lake City, Utah, to York on Monday, June 2 at 9 a.m., according to a news release.

A globally connected Christian church based in Utah, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints supports those in need through volunteer services, collaborations with other organizations, and donations, providing aid across the nation, according to the release.

“We are incredibly grateful for this generous food donation,” President and CEO of the York County Food Bank Jennifer Brillhart said in a statement. “Right now, many of our neighbors in York County are facing significant challenges, and we’re seeing increased need across the board. This donation will go directly to our partner agencies and help ensure that those experiencing food insecurity receive the support they need.”

The donations were collected by church members, who fast on the first Sunday of each month and donate the money they would have otherwise spent on meals to humanitarian initiatives.
