RICHTON, Miss. (WDAM) – The Richton Public Library is gearing up for a summer filled with educational experiences that kids can use at home and beyond.
The library has programs set up this year to help kids learn the ins and outs of personal finances.
New tablets are now available for checkout for two weeks at a time.
The tablets come loaded with several games focusing on budgeting and spending.
Several in-person sessions also will be held each week up until June 26.
“The games that come on there, there’s on called ‘Pet Sense,’” Richton librarian Shannon Cooley said. “It teaches the kids how to take care of their animals.
“A lot of the kids around here have pets, so they’ll know it costs this much to go to the vet, this much for dog food.”
The first financial session will start at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The summer reading program will kick off at 11 a.m. on June 3.
